    This course provides the basic understanding of steam boilers and their accessories, operation & troubleshooting and boiler water treatment.

  • course learning outcomes:

    At the end of the course, the participants will be able to;
    - Know different types of steam boilers and learn their construction.
    - Identify boiler parts, accessories and controls.
    - Learn boiler’s principle of operation.
    - Know the troubleshooting of boilers.
    - Learn Boiler feed water requirements.
    - Learn Boiler feed water treatment.

  • Course outlines:

    - Steam generation; heat losses, boiler efficiency, operating efficiency.
    - Types of steam boilers; shell boilers, water tube boilers, heat recovery boilers, comparison of boilers types.
    - Boiler auxiliaries and fittings.
    - Boiler parts; basic parts, water and fire lines.
    - Operation and control of boilers; auto control, safety functions, TDS control, water level controls, precautions before starting up.
    - Feed water treatment; problems with untreated boiler feed water, internal and external treatment of boiler water.
