    The participants will be able to understand the role of relay in power system. They will gain theoretical and practical experience of using relays to protect various components in power system. They will be able to understand and implement various protective schemes to protect generator, motor, transformer and bus bar.

    At the end of the course, the participants will be able to;
    - Understand the concept of protective relays.
    - Understand & implement the protection for generators, motors & transformers.
    - Hands on Experience on using protective relays.

    - Introduction to characteristics of relays.
    - Zones of Protection.
    - Over Voltage, Over Current and Over Speed protection.
    - Protection of Generator.
    - Protection of Motor.
    - Protection of Transformer.
    - Protection of Bus bar.

    - Generator Protection Using Multi-Functional Relays.
    - Directional Power Protection of Generators.
    - High Speed Distance Protection of Transmission Line using DIGSI Control Software.
    - Non Directional and Directional Protection of Transmission Line Incorporating RS485, CAN BUS and Ethernet.
    - Over Voltage and Under Voltage Protection of a Motor Incorporating RS485 and Ethernet.
    - Protection of BUS BAR.

  • who should attend?

    - Technicians & Maintenance Inspectors (Electrical or Electronic) who have at least 2 years’ experience in this field, with good knowledge of basic math/physics and electronics and good communication skills in English.
