  • course description:

    For Engineers and Technicians with good experience in Chemical and Petrochemical Industries, this course is designed to provide basic knowledge and skills with the application of UniSim Design software package in utilizing building tools, logical tools, Unit operations and Reaction tools for Process Calculations, Process Simulation and Optimization, Process Unit sizing of Chemical and Petrochemical Plants.

  • course learning outcomes:

    - At the end of the course, the participants will be able to;
    - Apply the Thermodynamic property packages, components and reaction types in Process Calculations and to develop knowledge in utilizing Building Tools such as PFD and Workbook in installing streams, Unit Operations, Reactors and Columns.
    - Perform Mass and Energy Balance Calculations, simulate the units and Size the Unit Operations and Columns.
    - Utilize all the Logical operations.
    - Apply the built in models in optimizer for optimization of chemical processes to meet the economic criteria.

  • Course outlines:

    - Introduction: UniSim Design-Building Tools.
    - Process Calculations: Usage of Material Streams, Energy Streams, Operations and Reactions; Utilization of Spreadsheet for Calculations, import and export of the results in the interphase between Spreadsheet and PFD.
    - Steady State Simulation: Application of Stream data, Installation of Unit Operations, Reactors and Columns, Utilization of Logical Operations in achieving the Process Objectives.
    - Sizing: Appropriate sizing of the Unit Operations, Columns and Reactors for meeting the Process Requirements.
    - Process Optimization: Usage of built-in models in optimizer tool to meet economic criteria.
