    This course introduces control-room operations of processing plants using an emulated DCS control system. It involves different types of display, start-up and shutdown procedure and troubleshooting on process upsets and malfunctions.

  • course learning outcomes:

    At the end of the course, the participants will be able to;
    - Describe instrument control systems in a control room setting.
    - Perform typical start-up and shutdown procedures for equipment and plant-wide simulated plants.
    - Monitor process variables, maintain, control and troubleshoot process upsets/malfunctions in the system.

    - Introduction to Prodyn process plant simulator.
    - Functions of controllers, instrument faceplate, set points, output, and manual/auto/cascade control.
    - Trends, instrument and control valves grouping.
    - Simulated plant operations on startup and shutdown.
    - Troubleshooting guidelines.

    - Startup and shutdown operations of simulated equipment (e.g., variable pump, heat exchangers, compressor, flash drum, steam boiler).
    - Troubleshooting training for selected equipment or unit process plant.
