This course introduces the student to fire protection concepts for facilities managers. The course is geared toward the management or engineering professional who does not have a strong background in fire protection engineering, fire safety, or fire protection systems.
At the end of the course, the participants will be able to;
- Understand the fire threat and identify hazards associated with typical petrochemical / industrial facilities (e.g. warehouses, solids processing, flammable liquids, tank storage).
- Identify the function of extinguishing agents & systems, fire detection & alarm systems, manual fire suppression systems, and passive fire protection features.
- Understand the process for evaluating the adequacy of water supplies and automatic fire sprinkler systems.
- Understand basic risk management and loss prevention.
