This course introduces the student to the fundamentals of combustible dust hazards and protection methods, based on the standards NFPA 652 and 654.
At the end of the course, the participants will be able to;
- Identify what constitutes a combustible dust, and the meaning and relevance of key parameters such as explosible concentration range, minimum ignition temperature, and deflagrations vs. detonations.
- Recall heuristics specific to establishing combustible dust hazard areas.
- Identify key types of deflagration protection methods, including explosion control and venting.
- Analyze dust-handling systems to determine appropriate deflagration isolation and protection methods.
- Available on request from Jensen Hughes.
