    This course introduces the student to fire protection methods for industrial facilities handling flammable and combustible liquids. These fundamentals are drawn from NFPA 30 (Flammable and Combustible Liquids) .

  • course learning outcomes:

    At the end of the course, the participants will be able to;
    - Categorize flammable and combustible liquids and types of storage (container, drum, tank).
    - Accurately determine the applicable sections of NFPA 30 for various facilities.
    - Evaluate the appropriateness of protective features such as explosion protection, electrical classification, secondary containment and active fire suppression systems.
    - Apply basic fire protection design criteria appropriate for the storage configuration.
