(ASNT: SNT-TC-1A: 2011)
This course deals with Visual Testing requirements for detecting, interpreting and evaluating visible surface discontinuities. The primary focus is on welded joints and related discontinuities. The students will perform hands on training in accordance with the approved Visual Testing procedures, and will learn to interpret and evaluate test results against the relevant acceptance criteria and prepare a test report.
At the end of the course, the participants will be able to;
- Understand the fundamentals of the method like vision, light, environment factors and the equipments which are used to aid the process of inspection.
- Understand the Fundamental principles affecting VT.
Operate Equipment’s used in VT.
- Hands-On Practical on many weld specimens of Plate, Pipe, T&Y configurations.
- Review & Discussions.
- Mock Up Tests, Home Works, and Examinations.
- Test will be conducted in 3 methods:
1. General 2. Specific 3. Practical
- The candidate successfully completes the course if he gets a minimum score of 70% in each test (General, Specific and Practical) and a minimum of 80% for the average of 3 tests.
- Hands-On Practical on many weld specimens of Plate, Pipe, T&Y configurations.
- Should be High School graduate of science branch (minimum recommended level of education).
- Should have a minimum experience of 70 hours in method and 130 hours in NDT.
- Certificates: Near Vision acuity (Jaeger Number 2 or Ortho-Rater 8), and Color Contrast Differentiation has to be submitted at the time of registration.
