    Introduction to steels, Forming Process, Basic Forging Defects, Castings, Castings Defects, Welding Processes, Welding Terminology, Type of Joints, Fabrication Defects or Imperfections, Visual Defects, Heat Treatment Process, Corrosion and Erosion, Polymers and Composites.

  • course learning outcomes:

    At the end of the course, the participants will be able to;
    - Identify different types of steels and be familiar with their making processes.
    - Differentiate between defects and discontinuities, deferent types of discontinuities and how to distinguish them.
    - Obtain knowledge in the field of products technology and manufacturing processes, identify different processes and their defects, expected location of defects and best NDT method to detect such a defect.
    - Understand the sources of material deterioration and defect generation in working environment, service defects types and location and best NDT detection method.

    - Lectures and class activities.
    - Review and discussions.
    - Quizzes, Mock Up Tests, Home Works, and Examination.
    - A final test will be conducted to assess & evaluate the performance of the participant.

    - Simulation of defects.

  • who should attend?

    - Should be High School graduate of science or industrial branch/associate degree in mechanical/engineers.
    - Should have at least 1 year of work experience.
    - Read and write in English language.
