    This course introduces the student to qualitative and quantitative techniques for establishing fire risk. Topics covered will include hazard analysis techniques, aspects of risk acceptance, risk characterization, and risk management strategies.

  • course learning outcomes:

    At the end of the course, the participants will be able to;
    - Understand and define risk management goals, objectives and criteria, and techniques for establishing acceptable risk.
    - Apply the fundamentals of NFPA 551 to conduct a fire risk assessment.
    - Understand and contrast the various types of qualitative and quantitative modes of risk analysis.
    - Apply principles of uncertainty, variability, parameter sensitivity and cost-benefit analysis to fire protection engineering problems.
